Sekera, Jan Carlos ; Dzúrová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Jágrová, Zdeňka (referee)
This thesis is focused on a situation of sexually transmitted infections in Prague (and in The Czech Republic shallowly) and analyzes this issue relatively to the social epidemiology. The thesis tries to identify the most vulnerable groups of a population. These groups contain homosexual men, individuals having unprotected sex and promiscuous people. Further more, the thesis tries to identify a relation between a high-risk factor and an exposition of a particular infection. For example, it was found out that sexual related risks are mostly determinated by a sexual behavior and a region where the individuals come from. Also, men are more vulnerable group of people than women according to findings of this thesis. A gonorrhoea infection is the most reported sexually transmitted infection in Prague (59,1 % of all cases). Syphilis is the second most common infection of this kind. The highest prevalence of sexually transmitted infections was reported for people with (finished or unfinished) basic education. This group of people represents 14,3 % of all reported cases. Its prevalence is 67,7 patients per ten thousand individuals. A group of people aged 20 - 29 years is another group with high prevalence. Further identification of a sexual behavior in The Czech Republic was one of the main goals of this...

Evaluation of knowledge about primary prevention of sexually transmitted diseases among students from selected four-year grammar schools in České Budějovice.
JOZOVÁ, Lucie
The title of my bachelor degree thesis is: Evaluation of knowledge about primary prevention of sexually transmitted diseases among students from selected four-year grammar schools in České Budějovice. As indicated by the title, my objective was to find out what information the students have about the issue of sexually transmitted diseases and how they protect themselves against such infections. In the theoretical part of my thesis I dealt with the current occurence of veneral diseases, their classification, legislative measures and detailed descriptions of the individual diseases. The research part of my thesis is based on an anonymous questionnaire. I have used 178 questionnaires dully filled out by students in the first and second years of four-year grammar schools. I formulated two hypotheses. The first hypothesis assumes that students get the information about the issue most frequently from media. This hypothesis has been confirmed and it demonstrates a long-term trend of an ever increasing influence of media on the young population. The second hypothesis assumes that the health education provided at schools in this field is seen by students as insufficient. This hypothesis has not been confirmed because only 35,4 % of the students evaluated the education as insufficient ( or as none at all). The result have shown that the students are not indifferent to the issue of sexually transmitted diseases (STD), however in certain areas their awareness should be increased to a necessary level. This thesis may be used for teaching purposes and its results may be used by the schools involved in the questionnaire survey as a basis for sexual education and programs of primary prevention to increase the knowledge about the issue among the students and to motivate them to a better approach to their health protection against sexually transmitted diseases.
Confrontation of the awareness of future graduate and undergraduate paramedical workers in České Budějovice of the risks inherent in sexually transmitted diseases.
FÜRSTOVÁ, Romana
Sexuality is an inseparable part of life. Apart from natural reproduction processes it enables us to deepen our relationship with a beloved person and makes it possible to share positive feelings. Unfortunately it also brings various undesirable phenomena into our lives {--} for example unwanted pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases (STD). For this reason I chose STD as a topic of my bachelor thesis. The sample for my survey consisted of future paramedical workers with secondary and university education , i.e. the students of medical subjects at the Secondary Health Care School in České Budějovice and the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the University of South Bohemia. For them the risk of STD infection is double {--} not only in their personal life but also in terms of their future profession. Due to the fact that the topic is rather delicate, the survey was carried out on the basis of anonymous questionnaires. The questions were partly focused on concrete STD and the originator, incubation period or vaccination, and partly also on STD-related general facts. The objective of my bachelor thesis was to compare the awareness of future paramedical workers studying at the secondary school and at the university. After setting this objective I specified two hypotheses. The first hypothesis was as follows: Paramedics with university education are more aware of the threat of STD than those with secondary education. This hypothesis proved to be true. The second hypothesis: Students of medical subjects at the secondary school as well as the university are informed about a non-sexual way of STD transmission. This hypothesis was proved only among the students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies but not among the students of the secondary school.
Health and social problems of venereal diseases
NĚMCOVÁ, Jana
The aim of the diploma work was the effort to map the problems and occurrence of sexually transmissible diseases, particularly gonorrhea and syphilis, in Southern Bohemia in the time period 2000 {--} 2005. Standardized questionaries ``Report of veneral disease{\crqq} of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic were used. The basic set is formed by patients that contracted during the period 2000 {--} 2005 one of the four sexually transmissible diseases subject to obligatory report to the National registry of veneral diseases of the Czech Republic. Four hypotheses were proposed for the subject. The work is divided into two parts: a theoretical and a practical part. The current state of the issue is outlined in the theoretical part. Here are further described the most frequent sexually transmissible diseases, their prevention and also the social impact of prostitution and the effort to provide a legislative treatment to this problem. The practical part covers the results of analyses of data from the given question-forms and their presentation in overview tables and graphs. Case studies of patients with syphilis from the Dermatovenerogical department of the Hospital Ceske Budejovice are presented including an interesting photo documentation showing the clinical and epidemiological importance of this problem.
